The Long Tail initially describes the power of the Internet. The Internet is going to allow all of us to constitute our tail. Things you don’t think ab out all the time will be available when you need it due to the Long Tail . Every once in a while, you want to find memorandum from years ago that once touched you, but without the Internet, finding that special thing would be highly impossible. Back in the days, when you needed to do research on something out of this world, you would have to go to the library and blow the dust off the books and get cracking, but thanks to the Long Tail, all the information is a click away. the long tail wala!! the micro economy…we are able to access the most weirdest things, but later on, only God knows what we have access too. Chris Anderson talks about the Long Tail in many different ways. Anderson displays an example of a guy who has a small business…very out of this world type. This business would have been a too bad so sad back in the days. Nevertheless, he’s now getting business due to the long tail of it.My favorite topic: Bags. There is a website were you can borrow a designer bag for a certain price. I don’t know the full details of it because I have and own ALL my designer bags. However, this business/site is possible due to the the long tail of it.  Brilliant!!!

Here ye…here ye…!

Bill of rights for the Internet huh? I don’t know how to feel about that one. I mean I guess I would say Yes, I agree, but to what degree? I agree that you should take ownership to things you created or help create, but…I don’t know. The Internet is like smoking a good “L”, so I heard from a few people I questioned. When you smoke, you are not responsible for the words that come out of your mouth or the things you do, just as long as no one get hurt…physically. Why, because you’re  not in the right state of mind. But on the other hand, people might argue that when you are on cloud 100, you speak a “sober” tongue.  On the Internet, you can do what you want, when you want, how you want, where you want, just as long as no one gets hurt…physically. It’s not your fault if people are sensitive and let “words” hit a soft spot. Please…I would say YES to the bill of rights for now. Just so that certain things online can be protected and respected, but other then that, be easy on everything else especially on the legal end. I mean there would be too many hands in the jar! Who would be in charge? Who would regulate? Who would be in charge of the person in charge? I mean the list of questions can go on and on…but 99% no regulations and 1% yes!

Have you ever spoken to someone and felt that they were boring, fake, wake, uninteresting and not being themselves? In the blogging world, you have to bear all and include details!! When you blog, you are speaking to the person that will soon find your blog, therefore, you have to make it interesting and fun! In Naked Conversations, it stated to be honest, personal, passionate and most of all simple. No one wants to read a blog that is all dry and flavorless!!In Naked Conversations, it also stated that companies benefit from negative comments/feedback. It helps them learn what the “consumer” is experiencing, thinking and feeling and in turn, due to that experience, thought or feeling might have a company change it whole idea…just like that…providing that a few 100 thousand people feel the same way.I noticed that if you’re somebody big, most likely there is a blog about you somewhere where people are just talking your name up a storm. One of my favorite to read is E entertainment online. God forbid if there’s an award show or something. If you wore the wrong outfit, shoes, hair wasn’t done right, color was off, bow was in the wrong place, too much make-up, suit was too tight…metro sexual…LOL, you were being talked about till kingdom come. Everyone benefits from exposing what they feel about whatever it might be. As consumers along with the buying power shifting to us, we need to  take a stand and let these companies know that we are going to have a huge impact, especially in this world called the Internet. So if someone out there is reading or listening from corporate America, come correct!! And to my fellow bloggers: Blog on bloggers, blog on!!

Blog???

Listen people…I don’t get this “blogging” phenom. Matter of fact, I wrote something last week and till this day I have no idea where it disappeared to! Don’t get me wrong, this is cool to write down what’s going on in your head, your thoughts, feeling blah blah blah, but I have to be mindful that Garrett will be reading this as well…so of course I’m going to want to make this as pretty and flowery as possible….NOT!!Prof. G, this is FRUSTRATING!! No to mention, you put me on blast stating that you have yet to receive my blog and you want me to send it to you as soon as possible. I guess once I find it in this wonderful world called “blogdom”, I will get it to you…lol Sigh!Oh snaps, I think I have located my blog from last week!!!! I see the title of it in the “draft” section….interesting. I wonder how it got there!  Well last week I spoke about the whole chat and e-mail epidemic. To be honest, I don’t know how we as people managed back in the days without them. IM is so popular, my job created an internal IM for whatever reason…all its going to do is make me lazy not to pick up the phone and reach someone. With e-mail…I also don’t know what I would do without. I mean, I kinda miss waiting for a letter in the mail from someone special, but its cute to log into your e-mail and find a e-card or a “text” message stating sweet nothings…sorry I got lost in the moment. I surprised the reading didn’t include text messaging,  Now that is making me one lazy person to talk to. Why talk and waste my precious breathe when I can send you a message via text? Can someone answer that for me?anyways…thats all for now folks….stay tune to the next pretty eyes episode!

Cluetrain Manifesto

After reading Cluetrain Manifesto, it really made me think about how far we have come with technology.  It actually does “bridge the greatest distances…”. To think you can talk to someone on the other side of the world via e-mail or chat without having to give an organ or your first born child…lol Clearly it is much easier and fun!

Let’s start with e-mail. Who would think just a few years ago that using e-mail would be such a phenomena today? Matter of fact, e-mail is almost essential in the everyday life. Not having e-mail is like not having a cell phone or an ipod, two devices which are approximately impossible to live without. I think I use my e-mail as much as I use my cell phone. I can be sitting two cubicles away from my co-worker, but for some reason we would find it easier to send an e-mail rather then walk over or pick up the phone. E-mail, I fee,l is a way to express how you feel without the hassle of writing it down or talking. You can add expressions, show emotions and add pictures to spice it up. It is easy, quick and inexpensive. Thank God for that because when I dated someone outside the country, sending letters was such a hassle, even though the wait for one in return was quite “cute”, but I digress…lol

Now let’s chat about this thing call “chat”. I remember being in high school and running to my friends house to get onto AOL’s chat rooms. 10 years ago, very few people could afford computers let alone the internet, so you had to get in where you fit in…lol Anyways, we would go into these different chat rooms and talk toboys and see where their heads were at. It was all about fun and game then, but now, chatting is very helpful. My company implemented an internal  “IM” system so you can get in contact with who ever instantaneously. How awesome is that.

Overall, technology has come a very long way and I can’t wait to see where it will lead us in the next 10 years. So with that being said, e-mail and chat on!

Google…

Battelle said it right: Google is going to rule business and the transformation of our culture.

I use google for everything!! When I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING! I tried to use other search engines, but for some reason, I feel that google will give me what I’m looking for better then the others. Besides, it’s easy and reliable.

After reading the book and “paying attention” in class, I learned that there’s a method to google’s madness on who makes the first page. I was highly impressed to know that. Who’s ever wonder what it takes to makes the “first page” of google? Things that make you go huumm!!

I don’t see any good books on yahoo and its search engines. Matter of fact, with yahoo, they are slowly losing cool points with me. Reason being, it gives you the run around before you acutally fine what you are looking for, if you ever find it. For example: When you have not much to do, Google/search yourself on both Google and yahoo and see who gives you what information and how much of it. I need to speak to someone in Google and try to get a job there.Shoot…as much as I Google, they should be paying me to do something for them.

Sorry…getting back on the subject, observe when you’re talking to a friend and they are looking for something, you’re not going to say, “yahoo it”, 9 out of 10 times, you’re going to say, “Google it”. Google is not only a search engine, its made a meaning for itself. To Google means to search, to look up, to find.  Yahoo…step your game up!!!!

I have to give Google their props, because they have made my life so much easy applying Google maps as an application to my phone. No matter where I am, all I have to do is pull to the side, get the address of exactly where I am and enter it into my phone, and Google Maps will direct me to where it is I need to be. It tells you how long and how far you’re going to be on a certain road etc…you get my point. Remember back in the days when you needed to go somewhere, you would say, “mapquest it”. But since mapquest has gotten so many damn people lost, including myself, numerous of times, the new thing to say is “Google it” or use “Google maps” its better then mapquest!!

I don’t know…Yahoo and Mapquest…watch out for Google, they are coming strong and hard! By the way…GOOGLE…HOW ABOUT A JOB IN ABOUT A YEAR? LET’S TALK OVER SOME “STARBUCKS”…LOL
